A Third Category Thing… 🤔

The England Law Commission has proposed a significant reform to classify crypto assets as a new category of personal property, distinguishing them from traditional assets. This initiative aims to provide better legal clarity and protection for digital assets in the UK. By acknowledging crypto assets as a unique form of property, the reform seeks to adapt the legal framework to the evolving digital landscape, ensuring that the rights of crypto holders are clearly defined and protected. This move reflects the growing importance of digital assets in the global financial system and highlights the need for contemporary legal structures to support innovation and growth in the crypto sector.

Ethereum ETFs Enter the Market with Significant Impact

Ethereum ETFs have made a notable entrance into the market, attracting substantial attention and investment. According to Coindesk, Ethereum ETFs witnessed $49 million in inflows during the recent drop in ETH prices, showcasing investor confidence in the long-term potential of Ethereum. This influx highlights the growing interest in diversified crypto investment vehicles, particularly as the crypto market experiences volatility.

OGTriple reports that the launch of Ethereum ETFs is expected to introduce billions into the crypto economy. This development is seen as a significant milestone, as it opens up the market to institutional investors who prefer the regulated environment of ETFs. The entry of Ethereum ETFs underscores the maturation of the crypto market, offering investors new ways to gain exposure to digital assets.

ApdA Community Update

If you are new to ApdA you can find out about our mission here. In short, we are a professional association tailored for blockchain professionals, allowing you to verify your professionalism and ethics on-chain.

BlockStart Scotland Recap:

Last week I travelled to Glasgow to attend Scotland’s first major web3 event, BlockStart Scotland, and it did not disappoint. The two day event hosted a range of insightful panellist and inspiring key notes giving the latest updates on the industry, covering topics including Real World Assets, DePIN, on-chain tickets, gaming and blockchain community.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable event where I met and reconnected with some amazing people and projects, some of which I am sure ApdA will be working with in the future.

The highlight for me was how the event gave a spotlight to Scottish talent with local speakers and communities on stage and in attendance. Superteam UK, which is the UK community hub for Solana innovation, emphasised this by announcing Glasgow as a new location for the Solana Build Station, a weekly co-working initiative for blockchain professionals.

Membership Spotlights:

Member profiles will soon be added to the ApdA website with Membership Spotlights. One of the benefits we intend to provide to our members is showcasing their projects and initiatives. You may even see them featured in future editions of this newsletter 👀.
